Ordering Music Directly From Corda

Many music shops in the UK will supply our music and there are shops in Germany, France, Italy, U.S.A., Japan and Australia who stock some of our editions.
But if you prefer to order directly from us, please:

• Print off and use our order form
  
• Give catalogue numbers to avoid confusion over titles (people do sometimes ask for Andantino without specifying instrument or composer).
  
• Give your name and full address, with the post code (we get two or three orders per year with no name or address to send the music to).
  
• Calculate the postage and packing from the chart below.

The most cost effective way for you to pay is by credit card, since this avoids paying extra in heavy bank charges for cheques, particularly from overseas. The banks make a big play in their advertising of being the friends of small businesses, but in practice their charges make it very difficult for a small concern such as ours because they levy almost any fee they like for changing foreign currency cheques, as well as charging us just for writing out our own cheques. They are of course quite happy to look after our money on deposit (though without paying us any interest) and even charge us for paying into the account. This means that a customer in Canada who orders 20 dollars of music could end up paying at least 15 dollars extra (i.e.75 per cent extra) just to cover the bank charges for cheques in England.

• Payment from within the UK.
  If you prefer to send a cheque or postal order, please enclose it with the order form. We advise you not to send cash through the post.
  
• Payment from other countries.
  If you are not paying by credit card, we prefer a cheque in pounds (£) or alternatively an International Money Order or Eurocheque. If the amount is less than £30 and you are not paying by card, you will have no alternative to sending payment by cheque in pounds because the bank will not handle cheques for small amounts in foreign currency. You can pay larger amounts in dollars, D-Marks, Swiss Francs, etc, but in that case you must add the equivalent of £10.50 to the total, in order to cover the heavy bank charges at in the UK. (See Whinge above) In general, it is much easier (and cheaper for you) to make overseas payments by credit card, as there is no extra charge for you using that method.
  

Post and Packing: This is a general guide to postage costs, but the weight of music is quite variable within each price band. We will adjust your postage cost downwards if the packet is lighter than might be expected, but we may also need to add a small amount if the weight is heavier than expected. If you are paying by credit card and give us a contact number or email address, we can tell you the postage cost at the time of packing. British Post Office charges have again increased recently (April 2006)
