| This is a 17th century musical picture of a genuine battle that took place during the English Civil War in 1644. It has an editorial commentary underlaid in the score to explain how the drama unfolds. The two upper guitar parts are often quite high and parts can be ordered for requintos if preferred. Guitars 3 and 4 have low D tuning. All four guitars have plenty of thematic material, from bugle calls, whistling bullets, wounded soldiers, canon fire and cavalry charges. Arranged by Ian Gammie, thematic material is given to all four parts, which require players of equal abilities. The work is in two movements, Pavan and Galliard, duration six and a half minutes.
