CORDA PROJECTS |

|
Details of this project are in a new section. There are several books of original guitar songs c.1800 - 1820, which are settings of petry by Goethe and Schiller, also with a CD recording. |
A fascinating insight into the musical life of the Irish poet Thomas Moore (1779 - 1852) He was the most famous singer of his generation and an erstwhile guitarist. Check out two books of songs with guitar accompaniment, CD recording and a mine of information about early 19th century guitar songs. |
The Earl of Abingdon, himself a composer and flautist, was one of the prime movers in getting Haydn to visit London in the 1790s. He took Haydn round on visits to other members of the nobility, and Haydn paid him the compliment of using a song by the Earl as the theme of one of his trios. See the Corda editions of Haydn trios; also, we are preparing a number of songs by the Earl of Abingdon and have published sets of his country dances. |
